Alberto Pedrón is a viticulturist, oenologist and agricultural engineer.  He comes from a long line of vine growers in Los Pedrones, a village of fewer than 200 inhabitants in Utiel-Requena, near Valencia.

Alberto grew up surrounded by his ancestor’s vineyards and spent his childhood playing among the vines.  He remembers when, at the age of 10, his father woke him early one morning to see the sun rising over one of the family vineyards that had been freshly dusted with snow.

Over the years, many old Spanish family vineyards were pulled up and replanted with higher-yielding international grape varieties. So in 2006, he decided to save his family’s oldest plot, a 6-hectare vineyard, dating back to the 19th century, that had been looked after by his father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Resurrecting the family bodega, Alberto is safeguarding his wine heritage with indigenous grape varieties, including Bobal from very old vines, his main focus for nine years, but also Royal, Merseguera, Moscatel, Garnacha, Macabeo and Syrah.
