Anónimas Viticultoras: a project born from the shared passion and rebellious spirit of winemakers Cristina (Chris) Yagüe Cuevas and María Falcón. Based in Rías Baixas, these two are shaking things up by sourcing fruit from across Galicia, with a particular focus on old vines – the kind most others overlook. Their story began at a wine tasting in 2014, a chance meeting that led to collaboration at María’s family winery and, eventually, the creation of Anónimas Viticultoras. This venture isn’t just about making great wine; it’s a powerful tribute to the countless “anonymous women” whose contributions to the world of wine have gone unrecognized for far too long.

María’s connection to the vine runs deep. “My earliest memories,” she recalls, “are of running through the family vineyards, hiding behind the tanks with my brothers. My first job? Teenage summers spent defoliating, tending the vines, and harvesting. Let’s just say, the beach held a certain appeal back then!”

Cris’s path to Galicia was more circuitous. After honing her skills in various wine regions, she settled in this Atlantic paradise in 2012, captivated by the singular character of its grapes. “Anónimas Viticultoras,” Cris explains, “is the culmination of our shared dream: crafting wines that truly reflect our vision.” And that vision, we suspect, is anything but conventional.
