Flavours of Spain, founded in 2007 by Ana Gomez and Teresa Holmes, invites you on a journey through the wonderful world of Spanish food and wine. They launched their venture with the invaluable guidance of top Spanish sommelier and Nariz de Oro winner, Juan Cañas.
Ana’s passion for gastronomy and wine is in her blood! Coming from a family of chefs and sommeliers, she grew up surrounded by amazing food and wine. This instilled in her a deep understanding of the importance of quality, where products come from, and the passionate people behind them. For Ana, it’s always worth the extra effort to find the very best, authentically made food and drink.
Teresa’s background is a little different, but her love of food and wine has led her on a similar path, working closely with artisan producers to bring their incredible creations to a wider audience.
Hailing from Galicia, Ana noticed a striking absence in the UK wine scene back in 2007. Albariño, while available, was practically the sole representative of this vibrant wine region, rarely gracing restaurant wine lists. This sparked the initial focus for Ana and Teresa. They embarked on a mission to introduce the UK to the exciting, innovative wine styles emerging from Galicia, particularly those crafted from rediscovered, and in some cases nearly extinct, native grape varieties. Along the way, they immersed themselves in the world of sustainable, biodynamic, organic, indigenous grapes, and low-intervention winemaking, gaining a deep appreciation for the dedication and challenges faced by the growers and producers embracing these methods.

From the start, Ana and Teresa have prioritized small-batch producers committed to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking, rejecting herbicides, pesticides, and other harmful chemicals. Many of the growers they partner with are pioneers in their field, having replanted nearly extinct indigenous grapes, revived traditional winemaking practices, or are exploring innovative new techniques. Regardless of their specific methods, these producers create wines that truly express their region, their terroir, and their individual philosophies.
